I bought this due to the big ice storm we had DEC08. I had originally run my furnace, refridgerator and freezer with extension cords. I decided the next time I wanted a plug and go type affair. I also needed more circuits in my house as the main panel was full. This panel fit my needs nicely.
This panel is made by Siemens - very handy as my main panel is also made by them, this means all I had to do was swap breakers from one panel to another, and run the hot wires over with a pigtail extension. Home Depot carries the breakers btw if you need to add some (Murray-MP,C-H BR). I bought 8/3 wire at appx $2 per foot and already had the 12ga and wire nuts for the pigtails.
It took 2 days at about 3 hrs per day with a 2yr old and 6 yr old 'helping'.IF YOU DON'T KNOW (not think you know) WIRING - HIRE AN ELECTRICAN. Installing this system exposes you to open buss bars that carry hundreds of Amps - DEATH, QUICK AND CERTAIN if you touch them wrong.
If you have installed additonal circuits in your home and put breakers in a panel you should be fine - But please, BE CAREFUL.

Porter-Cable BSI550-W 5,500 Watt Generator with 10 HP Engine Review

Porter-Cable BSI550-W 5,500 Watt Generator with 10 HP Engine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As an engineer, I'm obsessed with numbers and choosing a generator presents the perfect opportunity to play with them. I won't bother you with a lot of technical details, but this is the generator I chose after 4 months of deep, deep researching.
First criteria: my needs. I wanted to power a 3 bedroom home with a finished basement through the harsh winters in Maine. Here are the devices I setup as an absolute necessity to power up during an emergency:
1) Water well pump, 2) Furnace blower, 3) Basement Sump Pump, and 4) Refrigerator. Here are the "good-to-haves": 5) lights in the kitchen and main living room, 6) pellet stove, 7) oven range. And, finally, just the "nice-to-haves": 8) TV, 9) microwave oven, 10) computer. And here's what gets excluded: all the 2nd floor in the house, garage door opener, bedroom lights, everything else not listed above.
By adding the must-haves and nice-to-haves, a 5500 W generator takes care of business. One of my concerns: since I have a lot of electric motors to start (well & sump pumps, refrigerator, furnace blower) this requires a good surge capacity from the generator. In case you don't know, a motor takes a lot of electricity to start up, between 3 to 5 times (!) over their normal running wattage. Here's the caveat: not all motors should start at the same time, so then determining what your surge wattage is becomes an "art". Consumer Reports simply tells you to ignore the surge wattage, since all the generators they tested started their appliances with no problem. Well, the thing is, they don't mention what appliances they tested and how they started them (manual selective start or just regular use?). So, their point is taken, but surge wattage can't be simply ignored (it shouldn't be the only criteria to buy a bigger generator, though).
Well, this generator, with a 9000 W surge, is the biggest I've seen in all 5500 models -- it beats them all. So, this model is perfect for me, as it meets the criteria I've selected above. It even powers my computer and TV (with surge protector) if the oven range is turned off.
This is very important: if you turn your generator on, you're in "emergency mode". This means, you lose some comfort, some conveniences. You just try to keep the inconveniences at a minimum. Well, if you don't agree with my assessment above, you're looking for the wrong type of generator. If you want to power your entire house and live as if power wasn't lost, you need a stand-by generator, not a portable one. Of course, they cost a lot more money (good and powerful ones start at over 10,000 bucks). That's a lot of money to pay not to be inconvenienced. Now, since you're looking for portable ones (I assume so since you read this review so far), you'll have to give up something. Basically, you can't throw a pot roast party for 20 guests if you lose power; like I've said, you're in emergency mode. Cooking a gourmet meal shouldn't be a priority, order out, get pizzas. You get my point. So, decide what you want to power in an emergency situation.
Second criteria: fuel consumption. I was just about to purchase a 7500 W model with 13000 W surge, for about $1,400 bucks! Have you seen the fuel consumption for these generators? Only 8 hours, tops, at half load. This ones rates at 13.5 hours. Well, with gasoline prices hovering at around 2 bucks a gallon, do the math if you run a larger generator for 2 weeks (a possibility over hurricanes and severe winter storms): it may cost you over $500 dollars in gas! Of course, with this generator the cost drops significantly and you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to refuel it. This is very important to me, especially during cold winter nights.
Third criteria: quality of parts and components. I wanted a good engine and a good quality brand name generator. This one meets my criteria. It's not a Honda, but they're overpriced anyway and most home-owners and occasional users won't benefit as much from them. Construction workers, electricians and contractors may benefit some from their cleaner electrical output and "quietness", but no generator is really quiet. I ran a Honda once at my house and, sincerely, they're loud too. You just have to work around their noise, it's one of the inconveniences of being in emergency mode. Compare the noise of a generator to 5 kids screaming at the top of their lungs. With a Honda, you have 4 kids screaming at the top of their lungs. My point: 4 or 5, it doesn't matter, they're still loud.
Finally, here's what I mean for "less is better". If all you want is to power your house during an emergency, there's a good chance you'll be wasting your money if you buy a 10,000 W generator or bigger. First, 10,000 Watts is a lot of juice to deliver and you'll need 50 Amp plugs, cables, and a big transfer switch box if you want to use all that juice. They're ALL more expensive when you talk 50 Amps. The regular 30 Amp already costs money, about $100 for cable (depends on the length you want), $300 bucks for the transfer switch with 8 to 10 breakers (a bit less with

HoMedics Ortho Therapy Lumbar Cushion Support Pillow with Velour Cover Review

I brought two Ortho Therapy Lumbar cushions for my car. My Father is 84 years old and I drive him and my mother around a lot and we sometimes take long trips. My father has a bad back and usually after just a hour or so in my car his back is really soar. I brought the cushions which both my parents use on our trips even the ones just to the store. My father can now ride in the car with ease. He told me there is a real difference and he really liked the cushion that it did help a lot. He use to be so sore that when he got out of the car he had a hard time standing, now he seem to get out with ease. We have found the cushions to work very well. We like that the cover can come off to be washed when needed. We will be using them for a long time. I think they are better then the smaller roll lumbar cushions, they support your whole lower back and are very comfy. I would recommend them for anyone who has lower back discomfort.

Ramsey IG7 Ion Generator Kit Review

Ramsey IG7 Ion Generator Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered this kit for paranormal research, more on a whim than anything, just to try it out. It actually turned out to be a pretty amazing little gadget that works really well-much better than anticipated. It will blow out a cigarette lighter from about 4 inches away, it's so powerful, and you can smell the ozone (that "clean" smell) that it generates immediately upon plugging it in.
It DOES NOT come with a power supply (which it doesn't say in the description), but any 12 volt 500ma or so power supply with a 2.1mm male plug will work just fine.
It's a little tricky to solder the tubes and nails if you are a beginner and don't have much experience soldering. I would definitely recommend using a small butane torch or something similar, as a soldering iron will never get the copper tubes hot enough. I have a 140 watt soldering gun, and it took forever to heat up the copper tubes. Ended up using a small torch, and it worked like a charm.
The tubes are just Nibco 1/2" copper pipe couplings, just like you would buy at any hardware store, and the nails are exactly that, just small nails, that will need to be sharpened really well before soldering them onto the board. Once those are assembled, there are only a few basic solder joints to complete-one resistor, one LED, the female power jack and a few wires that need to be soldered in place. Then everything screws in place onto the larger IC board, and the kit is complete.
If you are going to handle this kit much, as I do for paranormal investigations, I would DEFINITELY recommend mounting it in a project box or something similar, since it does generate VERY high voltages, and you wouldn't want to accidentally touch the wires coming out of the high voltage power supply. I bought one from Radio Shack that it fits into perfectly, although I drilled lots of holes in it to allow for the air flow, and cut the one end out of the box and replaced it with rabbit wire to allow the ions sufficient room to flow out of the box. Anyway, it's much safer in the box, as there's no chance of touching anything electrical, especially when using it in complete darkness as I do, or around children.
All in all this is a pretty good little kit, and assembly is not that difficult; just be sure to follow the instructions when soldering the tubes and nails into place, and, as i said, use something that will be hot enough to solder copper pipe, and you shouldn't have any problems.

This nifty kit includes a pre-made high voltage ion generator potted for your protection, and probably the best one available for the price. It also includes a neat experiment called an "ion wind generator". This generator works great for pollution removal in small areas (Imagine after Grandpa gets done in the bathroom!), and moves the air through the filter simply by the force of ion repulsion! No fan blades, no noise, just swiftly moving, charged air. Learn how modern spacecraft use ions to accelerate through space. Use the Ion Generator to pump your VanDeGraff generator to a faster charge time, and generate negative ions for health and healing! Includes ion power supply, 7 ion wind tubes, and mounting hardware for the ion wind generator. (Caution...do not grab the output of the transformer, all the ions may be sucked out of your body! And don't you just hate it when that happens!)

I received the tiller in timely fashion, assembled it easily and was amazed when the Honda engine fired on the first pull. When the transmission is disengaged it is easy to roll back and forth to the garden.
I had previously had my new garden plot broken up, but a few passes back and forth had it looking like a powder puff...smooth, no clods, and really ready for planting.
All in all, I am pleased with my choice of tiller, even though it was a bit more expensive than some others I could have bought.
